Why Go To The Party
One of the best reasons to go to the Halloween party is the access to rides and attractions. Many of the most popular rides are open and because of the limited number of guests in attendance, you can ride and re-ride as often as you like.
Sometimes, if no one is waiting when you get to the end of the ride, the cast member will just ask you if you want to go again!
But there is more than just rides at the party.

Buying Your Tickets
The Halloween party tickets are a separate event ticket. You can't get in on your regular park ticket or pass.
Disney does offer discounts on tickets purchased at least one day in advance. If you are Disney Vacation Club Member, Passholder or Military, there may be additional discounts on certain nights. The cast member can help you with this when you call.
You can order tickets on Disney's website or call 407-WDISNEY.
Fridays are more likely to sell out than Tuesdays. Holidays and special days are also likely to sell out. Halloween usually sells out early so if you plan to go then, buy your tickets for that day at your earliest convenience.
Basically, if you know when you are going, it is best to buy your tickets ahead of time. You'll save money and insure that you will be able to get in.

What You Need To Do Before Attending The Party
There are several components that you will want to think about before attending the party.
- Dining Reservations
One of the biggest issues is finding something to eat. Disney does keep Cosmic Ray's open the entire evening so there is always counter service available.
But if you want table service, you will need to make reservations right at the 180 day reservation window (about 6 months out).
The means that you will want to make dining plans in April and May--well before the official dates come out.
You can always call and change them if you need to but your best bet is to lock them in based on the probable dates of the party.
Magic Kingdom Table Service Restaurants:
- Be Our Guest
- Cinderella's Royal Table
- Crystal Palace
- Liberty Tree Tavern
- Plaza Restaurant
- Tony's Town Square
Call 407-WDW-DINE to make your reservation once you reach the 180 day window. If you are closer to the date than 180 dates, it doesn't hurt to call and see what is available.
Where To Stay
You also need to decide where you want to stay.
Your most convenient bet is an on-property hotel. You can take a boat, bus or monorail back to your resort at the end of the party, leaving the driving and hassle to Disney.
Disney's Contemporary Resort is the only hotel on property that you can walk to from Magic Kingdom, another great option if you are looking to avoid the end-of-the-night lines.
While you can usually find a hotel room, even with just a short notice, some of the deals such as passholder and Florida resident specials will go quickly.
Day Of The Party
- Costumes
Anyone can dress up with certain restrictions. If you look like a Disney character, especially if you are an adult, the cast members may ask you to take off or alter your costume.
Any costumes that are obscene, offensive or too skimpy will also not be accepted.
Basically, remember that this is a family event. Keep it decent and fun.
The other point to consider is that it is Florida. It is still sometimes hot and muggy at that time of year but can also suddenly get chilly at night. Wearing a costume that can add or take away layers may make you and your child more comfortable.
- What Time Can I Get In?
Officially, the party starts at 7 PM. However, Disney will often start admitting guests any time after 4 PM on the day of the party. This is unofficial and cast members will not confirm. However, if you go to the front gate you will see a "party entrance." Once that is open, you can enter. It's worth it to get there early and go ride some rides!
Look for the special party entrance. Once you have gone through with your ticket, a cast member will put a wrist band on you that will show you are part of the party and can continue to stay at the park after 7 PM.
Helpful Hint: Once you get in, get away from Main Street as soon as possible. Once 7 PM hits, the street will be very crowded as the non-party attenders will be leaving and the ones that are attending will be trying to get in.

What To Do
Everyone has different goals when they go to the party.
- Some want to see the special parade and the fireworks and don't really care about much else.
- Some want to ride as many low-line, popular rides as they can.
- Some enjoy dressing up and trick or treating.
Based on my experience with many years of park attendance, here is what I recommend.
What Should I Spend My Time Doing At The Party?
What To See and Do
| What To Skip
| Reason
|
---|---|---|
The 10:30 Parade
| The 8:15 Parade
| The first parade is more crowded. By skipping that parade you can ride the open rides and attractions. This, in my opinion, is one of the best parades in all of the parks and at any event. Who doesn't feel a thrill when the Headless Horseman rides down Main Street?
|
The 9:30 Fireworks
| The 9:30 Fireworks
| If you absolutely love fireworks, you will probably want to stake out a spot to watch. But that usually involves at least 45 minutes of waiting, eating up valuable time. It's up to you and your family to decide what your goals are for the visit.
|
The Rides
| Trick or Treating
| This is a great opportunity to ride nearly unlimited rides without long lines or fast pass hassles. Since there is a limited time, the coach turns into a pumpkin at midnight, you may want to consider skipping the trick or treating, which you can do other places, and concentrating on the special access to rides and attractions. However, if you are there on Halloween or if it is a priority with your little ones, you may not be able to get out of it.
